New credit card rules mandated by the Credit CARD Act of 2009 have made prices significantly more transparent and lower for consumers—contrary to industry’s claims. My research report, “Credit Card Clarity,” shows what has gone up is the advertised interest rate on credit card offers, not the actual rate cardholders pay. The benefits of Mortgage loans are many and varied. For one, there is a wide range of options available as well as the flexibility in interest rates to suit each one’s needs. Because mortgage loans are priced lower due to the property value for the lender, this type of borrowing is highly feasible. The payment amounts can be determined according to the buyer’s wishes and can be settled back accordingly. Repaying mortgages are also very easy because there are many available choices. This factor is influenced by the locality, tax laws, the culture etc. In this method, the principal payments are made regularly along with the interests and are known as Repayment Mortgage.

With the economic downturn hitting Mediterranean countries more than their northern neighbours, the inhabitants there can be grateful for the fact that they will always have one thing that’s good for their country’s economies: The Sun. Where other sectors are faltering, Spain’s Tourist industry is still bringing in the money – just about, and is the number one place for UK tourists to spend money when abroad. There are obviously a substantial amount of UK expats in Spain, but this figure records those with residency in the UK. In 2010, Spain fell from third place to fourth most visited country in the world after France, the United States and China with 53 million visitors. However it has the fifth largest tourist industry in the world behind the United States with $510.8 billion, Japan $172.5 billion, China $113.4 billion and France $107.6 billion. Read more…

What a week of weather! My heart goes out to all of you still dealing with the storm’s repercussions. I was lucky—away on a family cruise celebrating my folks’ 60th anniversary, so we missed it. (Our terrific captain kept us out at sea to avoid Irene, where, he explained, we would be safest.)

Oddly enough, a flood is one of the natural disasters that isn’t covered by a standard homeowners insurance policy. What you may need is flood insurance.

If you were affected by Hurricane Irene, upping your insurance now won’t help pay for your damages, since there’s usually a 30-day waiting period before it becomes effective. But y

Your credit card might be making you fat

Some interesting dieting news out there. It’s been out there last summer, when the Journal of Consumer Research came out with a study, but some media outlets, like The Chicago Tribune and KOMO News Channel 4, of Seattle, Wash., have reported it recently, and I hadn’t heard this, so I thought I’d mention it as well.
